BCD Policy Release Roadmap
1 Statement of purpose
This document sets out a schedule for the release of the central policy for the Bonk.io Community Discord server. The dates in this document may be subject to change.
2 Roadmap
Phase 1: Consultation with the Administration unit
Start date: Monday 24 October 2022
End date: Thursday 1 December 2022
During this first phase, the draft policies will be released to the members of BCD's Administration unit only. The Administration unit provides their feedback and suggests improvements to the draft policies.
Phase 2: Consultation with the staff team
Start date: Thursday 1 December 2022
End date: Sunday 11 December 2022
The draft policies are then released to all members of the BCD staff team. The staff team provides their feedback and suggests improvements to the draft policies.
Phase 3: Consultation with the members of BCD
Start date: Sunday 11 December 2022
End date: Saturday 31 December 2022
The draft policies are made public. During this phase, any member of BCD can discuss or provide input on the policies. Input should arrive at the staff team through one of two avenues:
- By making a suggestion in BCD's suggestions channel regarding a modification of the wording of a clause, or the addition/removal of a clause or section. Highly/near-unanimously upvoted suggestions will automatically be considered by the staff team.
- By having a discussion that includes a member/members of the staff team. If the staff member(s) agree with any proposed changes discussed, they can bring them directly to the attention of the policy draftsmen.
The second option is in most cases preferred to the first, as discussion allows the merits and flaws with any given suggestion to be discussed and debated at length.
Phase 4: Policy comes into force
At midnight AEDT on Sunday, 1 January 2023, all BCD policies will come into force, in the state they are in following Phase 3. At this point:
- No further opportunities will be available for amendments to be suggested by members and directly implemented by the staff.
- The Administration unit should proceed as soon as is reasonably practicable with the election of the inaugural BCD Staff Advisory Council.
- No further amendments to the policies will be made during the election period, unless urgent changes are approved by the staff team.
Phase 5: Trial period
- The Administration unit still has full discretion over policies for a 3 month period beginning on the first day after the inaugural SAC is appointed.
- At the end of this period, the Administration unit will decide whether to end the trial period and adopt all policies as they exist then; extend the trial period further; or to return BCD to its pre-policy stage.
- If the Administration unit chooses to cease the operation of the BCD policies, they may choose to keep on as many of the conventions outlined by these policies as they feel is appropriate.
- If the Administration unit chooses to adopt all policies as they exist at the end of the trial period, all amendments to the policies must then be made in accordance with the Governance Policy.
