A brief history
The Bonk.io Community Discord was originally created as Mapz4Kidz (M4K) on 3 March 2017 by derpp_, an American Bonk player and mapmaker who wanted to create a shared space for him and fellow Bonk mapmakers to collaborate and share ideas on mapmaking. The server grew steadily and quickly reached 75 members, around which point Chaz, the independent developer of Bonk.io, heard about the server and joined himself.
Over time, the server came to serve not only as a collaboration hub for mapmakers, but also for a place for all members of the wider Bonk community to gather and interact outside of the game. On 19 August 2017, derpp_ chose longtime friend and fellow M4K administrator ProBond, a French Bonk player, to become the next owner of M4K.
Rebranding
On 1 July 2018, the M4K server launched a naming competition, where its members selected the best new name. A shortlist of the most upvoted name suggestions from the community vote was selected, and the staff of M4K chose the new name. The server was officially rebranded to become the Bonk.io Community Discord (BCD) server on 16 July 2018.
